started. first the mistress of general petraeus paula broadwell is accused of sending harassing e- mails to jill kelley. she was a friend of petraeus who may have been viewed as getting a little too close to him. kelley reported the e-mails to he fbi. that's when agents discovered the affair between general petraeus and paula broadwell. four star general david petraeus was supposed to testify before congress thursday on the deadly attack on the u.s. consulate in benghazi. he originally briefed lawmakers early on saying it was a spontaneous uprising to an anti- islam film. >> i don't see how in the world you can find out what happened in benghazi before, during and after the attack if general petraeus doesn't testify. >> reporter: there are also questions surrounding information petraeus' mistress paula broadwell may have known about the attack. last month at the university of denver she spoke about the benghazi attack. some say what she said appeared

to go beyond what was in the public record at the time. >> the cia annex had actually taken a couple libyan militia members prisoner and they think that the attack on the consulate was an effort to try and get knees prisoners back. >> reporter: was -- these prisoners back. >> reporter: was prod broadwell privy to the information because the cia had said nothing about this situation and now the fbi is in the hot seat. dianne feinstein, chair of the senate intelligence committee is, promising her own investigation to find out why lawmakers weren't told the head of the cia was under investigation in the first place. now another part of the story is breaking tonight. according to the wall street journal, the federal agent who launched the investigation that ultimately led to the resignation of petraeus was barred from taking part in the case over the summer because his superiors were concerned he

became personally involved in the case. the report says he allegedly e- mailed shirtless photos of himself to this woman, jill kelley, the woman who first contacted the fbi. here she is. the wall street journal says that agent who was taken off the case became a whistleblower and contacted a republican member of congress fearing the fbi was going to sweep thunder the rug. brian, i can a sure you more developments are expected for sure. >> peoples like they're coming in by the hour. -- seems like they're coming in by the hour. a college student in police custody after threatening to shoot people just for fun. it happened this afternoon on the rockville montgomery campus. >> the student it's rumored had recently gone through a breakup and was commenting to our students about wanting to go on a shooting spree. some of the students who heard the threat reported it to campus security. while the student may not be

identified, they contacted rockville police. both agencies swarmed the campus and 45 minutes later the student was found eating lunch outside on campus and was taken into custody. no weapon was found. school officials say they didn't issue an alert or lock down the campus because they say the threat didn't rise to that level. >> no weapon was seen. the witnesses came forward to our security office did not believe that the individual would be one who is known to carry a weapon, did have not any belief that he had one. it was just the statement is what was concerning to them. >> rockville police will decide tomorrow if the student will face criminal charges. he's been issued an order that stops him from coming on campus for three years without the college's permission in the meantime. the actor who performs as elmo on sesame street is taking a leave of absence from the show. kevin clash from maryland is accused of having a relationship with a then 16- year-old boy. clash denies the charges. the teen who is now 23 first

made those allegations in june. sesame workshop issued a statement saying the allegation were unsubstantiated, but it said clash exercised poor judgment and was disciplined for violating company policy regarding internet usage. a popular musician and activist addressed a crowd at georgetown university tonight. u2's bono challenged the students to focus on social enterprise. fox 5's lauren demarco has the story. >> reporter: an exciting night on campus near georgetown. more than 700 students in attendance at school of business along with plenty of vips including you 2's front man bono who delivered the key address talking about social enterprise and the impacts social media can have as far as change. his main message, there is no them, only us. >> what am i doing in healey hall? i could be down having my third pint at the tombs. >> reporter: bono taking the stage immediately be a sense of

of the 2nd world war griffin holland of chevy chase. >> everybody was involved in world war 2. everybody wanted to get in it. i had friends that couldn't get in because of their eyes or whatever it might be and were very disappointed. >> reporter: on this veterans day griff holland is looking at an old photo album. >> this shows you our tent. >> reporter: and one image in particular. >> i don't know what i was doing there, but frankly i don't. when the photograph was taken. >> reporter: it's a photograph of griff holland as a 19-year- old pilot in india that artist chris demarest turned into a color portrait that inspired this exhibit at arlington national cemetery. >> i was scared to death. >> reporter: chris thinks griff looks a little cocky. >> we could hardly wait to fly and it wasn't a game certainly, but it was a business. >> reporter: the exhibit of our greatest generation at war is not just men in their flying machines, but factory workers and nurses as well.

>> somebody e-mailed me after i did the portrait of her mother. she wrote to me i'm crying because i'm seeing my mother for the first time as a 20-year- old. i knew her only from these black and white photographs that to me were just part of a photo album and now seeing her in color makes her real and that's been the reaction i've heard over and over. i never thought about that. >> reporter: demarest's studi is right next to the exhibit here at the women in military service memorial at arlington. on the wall a portrait of chris' father, also a pilot during world war ii. >> he was young. he was only 67 when he died, but he's now buried at arlington. >> reporter: griff says chris captured his p-47 thunderbolt like a champ. >> this thing was the most rugged airplane ever built, my opinion. >> reporter: now 89, griff holland says he's equally impressed with the portraits of our newest veterans and the artist's latest project, women of the first world war.

superstorm sandy is going to put a dent in christmas for some local customers. thousands of christmas trees were destroyed in garrett county, maryland, when they were buried by more than 2 feet of snow. the pine tem christmas tree farm specializes in extra tall trees which sell for up to $6,000 apiece. the cia headquarters, botanic gardens, old town alexandria had all ordered trees from there and will have to get them from somewhere else. nearly 30,000 people in new york's rockaway peninsula still don't have power. fire ripped through and residents lost everything. crews from as far away as phoenix are in the area

western montgomery county and across 270, already into loudoun county and you'll see all this kind of filling in and embedded in some of these is heavier downpours like in poolesville headed toward the germantown area everything moving west to east. i do expect it to be a fairly wet morning commute. this might drop 1/2-inch to an inch of rain in some areas where you get some brighter colors you see here. we are also noticing in the higher elevations the ridge tops are getting a little changeover to wet snow. sharp cutoff after the front swings through and the rain cuts off. you'll see skies brightening by the noon hour. most of us from d.c. on west tomorrow. it will be about the temperatures after that. we're 64 degrees now in d.c. which is a little warmer than last hour, but then you get out to hagerstown, martinsburg, winchester and find the leading edge of colder air coming. in they're in the 50s and 40s being cumberland 46 degrees. up over the mountains into western pennsylvania we fine pittsburgh at 39, column --

find pittsburgh at 39, columbus 29 and chicago 39. there will be gusty winds out of the northwest as well. annapolis, gusts to 21 this hour, frederick and hagerstown gusts up and over 30 miles per hour. while have a rather gusty night and most of the day tomorrow. here's what we've got at the surface. frontal boundary will swing through with showers overnight clearing west to east tomorrow for a brighter afternoon for most places as high pressure builds in. between the departing cold front and incoming high pressure we'll keep the breezes going foam and we'll certainly keep temperatures -- tomorrow and we'll certainly keep temperatures much chillier than today. in rain we're thinking between 1/2-inch and inch of rain and 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch for everybody else in the light green colors. 49 and showers, gusty winds with a temperature of 53 degrees for a drier afternoon and cooler day overall.
